Estimation of colon capsule endoscopy accuracy for the detection of colorectal neoplasia

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the methods used for evaluation of diagnostic accuracy of colon capsule endoscopy. It contains detailed analysis of selected approaches used in international studies and their application on obtained dataset. Three different types of analyses were used. Specifically analysis of the biggest lesion detected in patient (per patient analysis), analysis of all identified lesions (per polyp analysis) and the analysis based on the presence of significant lesion. Four algorithms for polyp matching procedure were used. The obtained values of sensitivity differed within the algorithms (min. 65 %, max. 86 %). The results show, that the choice of evaluating technique, deeply affects sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postupy pro výpočet diagnostické přesnosti kolonické kapslové endoskopie. Obsahuje podrobnou analýzu vybraných postupů z mezinárodních studií a jejich aplikaci na zvolený datový soubor. Provedena byla analýza pro největší nález v těle pacienta (per patient analýza), analýza všech identifikovaných polypů (per polyp analýza), stejně jako analýza přesnosti založená na přítomnosti signifikantní léze. Byly použity čtyři algoritmy porovnávající velikosti nálezů. Získané hodnoty senzitivity se v rámci jednotlivých postupů lišily (min. 65 %, max. 86 %). Z výsledků plyne, že metodika kalkulace diagnostické přesnosti má vliv na výsledné ukazatele senzitivity a specificity.
