Thermal stability of geopolymers prepared using alkaline activation of the steel slags

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřená na spektroskopické charakteristiky a tepelnou stabilitu geopolymerních materiálů vzniklých alkalickou aktivací granulovaných ocelářských strusek. Z IRS spektra je patrné, že se ve směsi do teploty 500°C vytvářela struktura se zárodky zeolitové fáze. Při vyšších teplotách se struktura začala měnit a postupně probíhal vznik ?pseudowollastonitové? fáze. Okolo 1000°C již byly absorpční pásy v infračerveném spektru velmi blízké wollastonitu. Z IRS nebylo možné určit přítomnost CSH, potvrdila ji až 29Si MAS NMR a 27Al MAS NMR analýza. Na DTA/TG křivkách do 462°C probíhala dehydratace vzorku, následovala dehydroxylace CSH fáze v oblasti 462-818°C (na DTA endotermní reakce okolo 620°C spojená s počátky vzniku ?pseudowollastonitové? fáze). Další část byla spojena s krystalizací wollastonitu (na DTA křivce charakteristický exotermní pík při 894°C). Poslední dvě oblasti DTA křivek jsou ovlivněné typem aktivátoru, rychlostí ohřevu i složením směsi. Při TMA (do 500°C) do 200°C probíhala dehydratace doprovázená smrštěním vzorku, v rozmezí teplot 200 500°C se průběh u jednotlivých skupin vzorků lišil. Ochlazování způsobilo další smrštění materiálu. Po TMA do 1000°C došlo k výrazné deformaci materiálu a byly patrné hluboké a nerovné kontrakční trhliny.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on spectroscopic characteristic and thermal stability of geopolymer materials prepared using alkaline activation of the steel slags. The infrared spectrum shows creating structure with content of zeolite phase to 500°C. At higher temperatures, the structure began to change and was conducted gradually rise "pseudowollastonite" phase. Around 1000°C were absorption bands in the infrared spectrum very similar to wollastonite. In the IR spectrum was not possible to determined the presence of CSH, confirmed by 29Si MAS NMR and 27Al MAS NMR. The DTA/TG curves shows dehydration of the sample to 462°C followed by dehydroxylation of CSH phases in range 462-818°C (DTA endothermic reaction around 620°C associated with the beginnings of ?pseudowollastonite" phase). Next part was associated with crystallization of wollastonite (on the DTA curve characteristic exothermic peak at 894°C). The last two areas of the DTA curves are influenced by the type of activator, heating rate and composition of the mixture. The TMA (up to 500°C) shows dehydration of sample to 200°C accompanied by shrinkage of the sample. The progress was different for individual groups of samples in the temperature range 200-500°C. Cooling caused further shrinkage of the material. The significant deformation of the material occured after the TMA to 1000°C and was apparent the deep and uneven contraction cracks.
