Manager Career of the Hotel and Hotel Chain

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou kariéry manažera hotelu a hotelového řetězce. Prvořadým cílem bylo zjistit co a jak ovlivňuje kariéru manažera, jaké kompetence potřebují pro růst kariéry a znát jejich názory na způsob vedení svého týmu. V teoretické části byla detailně popsána profese manažera, předpoklady a požadavky pro vykonávání tohoto zaměstnání. Tato část měla za úkol zcela jasně popsat rozmanitost a náročnost činností, úloh a rolí, která klade vysoké nároky na osobnost manažera. Důkladně se zabývá schopnostmi manažera, dovednostmi, kvalifikací a profesionalitou. Zaměřuje se i na samostatnou činnost a role, které by měl manažer svědomitě vykonávat. Osobnost manažera, jeho kariérní rozvoj, osobní i profesní předpoklady a kompetence pro tuto činnost. Uplatňování řídícího stylu při vedení svého profesionálního týmu a pravomoce. V analytické části je hlavním cílem získání informací od samostatných manažerů z oblasti hotelnictví, co se vývoje jejich kariéry, kompetencí a stylu vedení lidí. Metodou pro získání těchto dat byl využit nejen dotazník, jako metoda k získání, zpracování a sběru dat, ale také kvalitativní výzkum realizovaný pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s manažery. Po uchopení a zpracování výzkumného problému v analytické části byla provedena samotná analýza a interpretace informací získaných z průzkumu a na základě těchto dat byla ve třetí části bakalářské práce, tedy návrhové části provedena formulace a doporučení, jako klíč pro úspěšnou kariéru.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the career of a hotel and a hotel chain manager. The primary objective of the thesis was to investigate what and how influences the career of the hotel manager, what skills one needs for career growth and what is his opinion concerning leadership techniques. The theoretical part contains of hotel manager job description and stating the preconditions and requirements for this job. The aim of this part of the thesis was to clearly describe the diversity and complexity of the activities, tasks and roles that put high demands on the manager’s personality. It thoroughly covers manager's abilities, skills, qualifications and professionalism. It focuses on the activities performed independently and the role that the manager should conscientiously perform. Manager's personality, his career development, personal and professional qualifications and skills that are necessary for this job. Implementation of the management style while leading the professional team and his powers. The main goal of the analytical part was to obtain the information from individual managers from the hotel business about their career development, skills and leadership style. The method for obtaining, processing and retrieval of data was a questionnaire and also qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews with managers. First I grabbed and processed the research issue in the analytical part of the thesis. Then on the grounds of the above mentioned I conducted the analysis and interpretation of the information collected from the survey. Finally in the third and last proposal part of the thesis I suggested the recommendation for the successful career of a hotel manager.
