Ornament - A living source of visual culture

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na prezentaci lidového ornamentu jako živého zdroje vizuální kultury ve Slováckém regionu. V teoretické části práce jsou definovány klíčové pojmy související s ornamentem a folklorem, s důrazem na jeho význam v kulturním kontextu. Region Slovácko je představen jako klíčový zdroj inspirace pro praktickou část práce. Propojení teoretického a praktického výzkumu umožňuje porozumění tomu, jak lidový ornament ovlivňuje každodenní život komunity. Praktická část práce, vyjádřená ornamentální malbou na zdi vinného sklepa, je založena na autorově vlastním vztahu k folkloru a jeho hodnotě. Výsledkem práce je důkladné pochopení role lidového ornamentu v kontextu vizuální kultury Slovácka a jeho vlivu na uchování kulturní identity. Fotodokumentace práce poskytuje důkaz o tom, jakým způsobem se ornament projevuje v životě komunity a jak může sloužit jako prostředek k posílení kulturního povědomí. Tento abstrakt shrnuje hlavní cíle, obsah a význam bakalářské práce a jeho vztah k tématu folkloru a vizuální kultury ve Slováckém regionu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the presentation of folk ornament as a living source of visual culture in the Slovak region. The theoretical part of the thesis defines key concepts related to ornament and folklore, with emphasis on its importance in the cultural context. The Slovácko region is presented as a key source of inspiration for the practical part of the thesis. The linking of theoretical and practical research enables an understanding of how folk ornament influences the everyday life of a community. The practical part of the thesis, expressed by the ornamental painting on the wall of the wine cellar, is based on the author's own relationship to folklore and its value. The result of the work is a thorough understanding of the role of folk ornament in the context of the visual culture of Slovácko and its influence on the preservation of cultural identity. The photographic documentation of the work provides evidence of the ways in which ornament manifests itself in the life of a community and how it can serve as a means of strengthening cultural awareness. This abstract summarises the main aims, content and significance of the Bachelor's thesis and its relation to the topic of folklore and visual culture in the Slovácko region.
