Cross-cultural comparison of Russian and Czech idioms describing the features of the human character through the animal´s characteristics

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje mezikulturnímu porovnání českých a ruských frazémů popisujících rysy lidského charakteru prostřednictvím vlastností zvířat. Celé toto téma jsme se snažili postihnout jak z teoretického hlediska, tak i z hlediska praktických příkladů. V teoretické části této práce definujeme základní pojmy z oblasti frazeologie, určíme i pojem charakter a předložíme jeho základní rozdělení a také provedeme krátký exkurz do oblasti etnolingvistiky. V praktické části se pak zaměříme na konkrétní analýzu jednotlivých českých i ruských frazémů a pokusíme se na základě těchto frazému konfrontovat charakter daného zvířete s charakterem lidským. V této části se budeme zabývat jak zvířaty bájnými, tak zvířaty současnými a v poslední kapitole budeme reflektovat výsledky dotazníkového výzkumu, který odráží rysy lidského charakteru prostřednictvím obrazu psa. Součástí práce bude i rusky psané resumé a případné přílohy.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with cross-cultural comparison of Czech and Russian phraseologisms reflecting human character via the animals´ character. We tried to describe this topic from the theoretic and practical points of view. In the theoretical part of this thesis we define basic concepts of the field of phraseology, we describe also the term ?character? and we will present its basic sorting. We will also make a brief description of the field of ethnolinguistics. In the pracitcal part we will focuse on the particular analysis of individual Czech and Russian phraseologisms. By this analysis we will compare the character of the particular animal with the human character. In this part we will pay attention to the mythical animals, too. In the last chapter we will reflect results of the questionnaire survey which describes human character via the language image of the dog. The part of the thesis is also Russian and English summary.
