Morphosyntactic features of the -ni-/-ti- type deverbal nouns

Abstract:

V doktorské práci jsem se zabývala deverbálními substantivy, převážně typem DSi se segmentem -ní-/-tí- (čtení, pití); je analyzován jako bimorfémový. Pracovala jsem s teoretickou základnou, která je v ucelené podobě představena v teoretické části práce. Jejími klíčovými předpoklady jsou: nelexikalistická verze Modifikované valenční teorie (Karlík), zvl. derivace externí syntaxe fráze, jejíž hlavou je DS, z vnitřní morfologické struktury DS a v souvislosti s tím interpretace argumentů (ve stylu Distributed Morphology), princip mixed categories (Spencer), distinkce process nominals vs. result nominals (Grimshaw). Morfosyntaktické vlastnosti DS jsou usouvztažňovány s jejich vlastnostmi morfofonologickými (Scheerův zákon). Vlastnosti deverbálních substantiv DSi jsem z důvodu kontrastu zmiňovala v porovnání s jiným typem deverbálních substantiv, a sice s typem DSii (se segmentem -ba, -ka, -ot). Ke zkoumání jednotlivých vlastností byla nápomocna data vyhledaná v Českém národním korpusu, případně v internetovém vyhledavači Google. Zvláštní pozornost jsem zaměřila na otázku reflexivity u DS. Uvádím v této práci nejnovější studie vztahující se k této problematice a zabývám se pojetím reflexivity DS v rámci české jazykovědy. Vyhledaná data Českého národního korpusu mimo jiné potvrdila např. skutečnost, že deverbální substantiva typu DSi mohou přijímat reflexivní se, si a vytvářet reflexivní tvar, zatímco deverbální substantiva typu DSii toto reflexivní se, si vyjma několika případů, nepřijímají. Byly analyzovány příklady nejen s krátkým reflexivem se, si, ale také s dlouhým reflexivem sebe, sobě sebou a s tzv. komplexním reflexivem typu sebe sama a typu sám sebe.

Abstract:

In this Ph.D. thesis I focused on the deverbal nouns, in particular on the DSi type with the segment -ní-/-tí- (čtení, pití), which is analysed as bimorphemic. I worked with a theoretical background introduced in detail in the theoretical part of the thesis. The key presumptions of this background are: non-lexicalist version of the Modified Valency Theory (Karlík), in particular the derivation of the external syntax of a phrase, whose head is DS, from the internal morphological structures of DS and, in connection with this, the interpretation of arguments (in the Distributed Morphology style), mixed categories principle (Spencer) and process nominals vs. result nominals distinction (Grimshaw). Morphosyntactic features of the DS are dealt with in relation to their morphophonological features (Scheer’s law). The features of the DSi type deverbal nouns were, for contrast reasons, mentioned together with another type of deverbal nouns, namely the DSii type (with the -ba, -ka and -ot segments). The investigation of particular features was supported by data gained from the Czech National Corpus and Google internet finder. Special attention was paid to the question of DS reflexivity. In this work I introduce the most recent studies concerning this issue and I deal with the conception of DS reflexivity in Czech linguistics. The Czech National Corpus data confirmed, among others, for example the fact that the DSi type deverbal nouns can accept the reflexive se, si and create a reflexive form, while the DSii type deverbal nouns cannot, except for a few cases, take the reflexive se, si. Examples with short reflexives se, si as well as with the long reflexives sebe, sobě, sebou and the complex reflexives sebe sama and sám sebe were analysed.
