Identity in Liberal Theory: Sources and Genealogy of a Concept
Abstract:
Magisterská diplomová práce se věnuje konceptu identity v liberální teorii. Snahou je analyzovat vývoj konceptu od nejrannějších teoretiků liberalismu, až k debatám v rámci tzv. liberálního nacionalismu. Cílem je odhalit, co vlastně koncept identity v liberální teorii znamená, a to vzhledem ke dvěma výzvám, které vůči ní přicházejí, tedy komunitarismu a kosmopolitismu.
Abstract:
The thesis deals with the concept of identity in liberal theory. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development of the concept from the earliest theorists of liberalism to debates within so called liberal nationalism. The objective is to discover what does the concept of identity in liberal theory mean, considering two main challenges, namely communitarianism and cosmopolitanism.
