The role of a social worker in a residential social service for the elderly

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je specifikovat základní aspekty sociální práce se seniory z pohledu sociálního pracovníka se zaměřením na pobytové sociální služby. Vymezím a popíšu stěžejní role vyplývající ze vztahu sociálního pracovníka a seniora, jako klienta pobytové sociální služby, v závislosti na tom i metody a přístupy, jež sociální pracovník při práci v této službě využívá. Cílem aplikační části práce je zjistit, jaké metody a přístupy využívá sociální pracovník při práci s klienty ve vybraném domově pro seniory, a jaká je jeho role ve vztahu ke klientům. Ke zjištění této skutečnosti využiji analýzu dokumentů a doplňkovou techniku expertního rozhovoru. Na základě těchto výzkumných technik budu zjišťovat nejen jaké metody a přístupy sociální pracovník využívá, ale čím je volba a aplikace těchto přístupů podmíněna. Následně mohu specifikovat, jaká role převažuje při jeho práci s klienty, tj. zda převládá role úřednická, poradensko-terapeutická či expertní.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to specify the basic aspects of social work with seniors, from the perspective of a social worker, with focus on residential social services. I will define and describe the key roles arising from the relationship between a social worker and a senior, as a client of residential social services, depending on the methods and approaches used by a social worker when working in this service. The aim of the application part is to find out what methods and approaches are used by a social worker when working with clients in a selected home for the elderly and what is his role in relation to clients. To find out this, I will use document analysis and an additional expert interview technique. Based on these research techniques, I will not only find out what methods and approaches a social worker uses, but what makes the choice and application of these approaches conditional. Subsequently, I can specify what role prevails in his work with clients, ie whether the role of clerical, advisory-therapeutic or expert dominates.
