Presentation of shoes at trade fairs and museums in Czechoslovakia in the 1968–1989

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská diplomová práce má dvě hlavní části. V první se snaží stručně nastínit historický vývoj muzejní a veletržní prezentace a na jeho základě charakterizovat tyto specifické způsoby prezentování. Důraz je kladen na nejzákladnější cíle a jednotlivé prezentační způsoby na veletrzích a v muzeích a jejich následné srovnání. Druhou částí práce je případová studie, která se věnuje prezentaci obuvi v muzeích a na veletrzích v Československu se zaměřením na období 1969—1989. V této době se na území Československa nacházely dvě stálé expozice prezentující především historii obouvání, a to Obuvnické muzeum v Gottwladově (dnes Zlín) a Městské muzeum ve Skutči. Veletrhů prezentujících obuv bylo několik, ale pro tuto práci byly vybrány jen ty největší - Veletrh spotřebního zboží v Brně a Liberecké výstavních trhy. Cílem práce je popis a srovnání prezentace obuvi ve vybraných muzeích s prezentací na největších veletrzích módy a spotřebního zboží.

Abstract:

The presented thesis has two main parts. The first part of this thesis aims to concisely describe historical development of museum and trade fair presentation and it characterizes these specific forms of presentations on historical basis. The text emphasizes the most essential goals and individual presentation methods of trade fairs and museums and it compares them. The second part of the thesis is a case study which aims to explore presentation of shoes in museums and on trade fairs in Czechoslovakia with focus on time period between years 1969 and 1989. The main aim of this part is to describe and compare presentation of shoes in museums and on biggest trade fairs of fashion and consumer goods. In this chosen time period, there were only two permanent museum exhibitions in Czechoslovakia. The first one was Shoemaking Museum in Gottwaldow (currently called Zlín) and the second was City Museum in Skuteč. These museums presented shoe collections mainly from the historical point of perspective. There were also several trade fairs presenting shoes, but only the biggest ones were chosen for this thesis – Trade Fair of Consumer Goods in Brno and Exhibition Fair in Liberec. The goal of the thesis is to describe and compare shoe presentation methods in chosen museums and on biggest trade fairs of consumer goods.
