Feelings and needs of mothers after premature labour

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřila na prožívání žen po předčasném porodu. Jejím cílem bylo zjistit pocity a potřeby, které zažívají matky několik týdnů po porodu. V této době již sice nejsou v bezprostřední krizi, ale jejich dítě je stále hospitalizováno a to jim přináší různé negativní, ale i pozitivní pocity a s tím spojené potřeby. Pro výzkum v této oblasti byla zvolena kvalitativní analýza dat. S 8 ženami po předčasném porodu byl proveden polostrukturovaný rozhovor a získaná data byla poté analyzována za pomoci zakotvené teorie. Pocity, které byly tímto způsobem u respondentek identifikovány, byly – strach, smutek, sebeobviňování, nejistota, bezmoc, stres a zklamání. Mezi pozitivní emoce patřily radost, spokojenost, úleva, těšení se. Zvláštním pocitem, který respondentky udávaly, byla absence pocitu mateřství určitou dobu po porodu. Omezení daná nutností hospitalizace dítěte způsobila, že se ženy necítily jako matky. Tento pocit obvykle zmizel, když měly možnost bližšího (fyzického) kontaktu s dítětem. Zajímavým zjištěním práce byla také důležitost, jakou připisují matky laktaci. Tvorba mléka, jeho odstříkávání a kojení dítěte bylo pro matky důležitou oblastí, díky které se zvyšovalo jejich sebehodnocení. Mezi potřeby, které ženy po předčasném porodu pociťovaly, byly např. potřeba podpory blízkých, profesionální podpory, uklidnění, častějšího kontaktu s dítětem a zabavení se.

Abstract:

The work has focused on experience of mothers with preterm infants. The deal was to identify the feelings and needs of mothers in few weeks after preterm labour. They are not in an urgent crisis but the period after preterm labour is still difficult for them. The qualitative analysis has been found as the most suitable choice for this research. There were 8 women in the sample and semistructed interview was done with them. Obtained data were analysed with the grounded theory. The ascertains feelings were: fear, sorrow, self-blaming, doubts, helplessness, stress and disappointment. The positive feelings were joy, satisfaction, alleviation, looking forward. The unusual feeling, which was reported by respondents was an absence of the mother´s identity. The restriction of child´s hospitalization in NICU caused the fact that respondents didn´t feel like mothers. This feeling disappeared after tactile contact among mother and child. The interesting recognition was the importance, which mothers layed on lactation. Production of the milk and breast feeding were very intersting for women´s self esteem. The main respondents needs were the need of relatives support, professional support, tranquillization, more frequent contact with baby and amusement.
