The phenomenon of feminisation of the teaching profession in the environment of the Czech education system

Abstract:

Diplomová práce rozpracovává téma feminizace, jakožto sociální jev charakteristický pro vzdělávací oblast. Autor sleduje vznik tohoto fenoménu historicko-sociální perspektivou. Představuje vývoj podílu učitelek a učitelů na školách jednotlivých úrovní a typů v České republice, který je následovně komparován a kontextualizován. Stav feminizace v České republice je dále porovnáván se stavem ve vybraných zemích OECD. Autor dále analyzuje příčiny vzniku feminizace a možné důsledky, které tento jev přináší. V empirické části práce byl na základě realizovaných hloubkových rozhovorů s vyučujícími analyzován problém feminizace zúčastněným pohledem samotných vyučujících. Vedle tématu feminizace byl v rámci výzkumu zkoumán vliv pohlaví vyučujících na jejich motivy volby učitelského povolání a na faktory jejich profesní spokojenosti.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis develops the theme of feminization, as a social phenomenon typical for the educational area. Author examines the emergence of this phenomenon from historical and social perspective. He presents the development of the female teachers ratio at particular levels and types of schools in the Czech Republic, which is subsequently compared and contextualised. The state of feminization of the Czech education is further compared with the situation in selected OECD countries. The author then analyzes the causes of feminization and the possible implications that this phenomenon brings. The empirical part of this work was based on in-depth interviews with teachers and presents the analysis of the problem of feminization through the sympathetic view of teachers themselves. Besides the theme of feminisation, the research studied the influence of teachers' gender on their motivatiom while choosing the teaching profession and on the factors of their professional satisfaction.
