The Modernity in Modernism: Šalda, Baudelaire, Adorno

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce "Moderny v moderně: Šalda, Baudelaire, Adorno" pojednává o moderně u F. X. Šaldy, Charlese Baudelaira a Theodora W. Adorna. Popisuje vztah uvedených osobností k moderně, jejich chápání pojmu moderna, dále moderního umění se zaměřením na výtvarné umění, konkrétně malířství a literární tvorbu, zejména poezii. Práce popisuje a analyzuje myšlenky uvedených osobností a jejich tvorbu, zahrnuje také úvahy o vybraných umělcích a moderní tvorbě. Úvodní kapitola se zabývá pojetím moderny v obecně historické rovině a jejím účelem je seznámení s pojmem moderna. Následuje kapitola o Šaldovi a jeho chápání moderny se zaměřením na moderní kritiku, dále kapitola o Baudelairovi, jež se zabývá zejména jeho básnickou sbírkou Květy zla. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje Adornovi a vychází zejména z Adornových úvah o moderně obsažených v jeho Estetické teorii.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis "The Modernity in Modernism: Šalda, Baudelaire, Adorno" deals with the modernity of F. X. Šalda, Charles Baudelaire and Theodor W. Adorno. It describes their relation to modernity, the ideas of the concept of modernity and the modern art focused on fine art - particularly painting and the literary production – especially the poetry. The thesis describes and analyses the ideas and the production of afore mentioned personalities, it includes also their reflections on the chosen artists and the modern art. The first chapter deals with the modernity in the general and historical aspects and its purpose is to acquaint with the concept of modernity. The next chapter about Šalda is focused on his ideas of the modernity, especially about the modern critic. The following chapter about Baudelaire treats mainly of his book of poetry The Flowers of Evil. The fourth chapter presents the ideas of modernity of Adorno, that result especially from his book Aesthetic Theory.
