Image Segmentation Using a Morphological Operator for Curvature-Driven Motion

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na implementaci a hodnocení nedávno uvedené metody segmentace obrazu založené na aktivních křivkách, kde vyhlazování křivky je prováděno pomocí nového morfologického operátoru. Parciální diferenciální rovnice řídící vývoj křivky jsou nahrazeny morfologickými operátory, což vede k rýchlému, stabilnímu a snadno implementovatelnému postupu pro segmentaci obrazu. Součástí práce je implementace v jazyce C++, její testy a srovnání s ostatními přístupy.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the implementation and evaluation of a recently introduced method for image segmentation based on active contours where smoothing of a curve is performed by successive application of new curvature morphological operator. Whole curve evolution PDE is approximated by a set of morphological operators which results in fast, stable and easy to implement segmentation algorithm. C++ implementation focused on performance, benchmarks and comparison with other approaches are also included.
