Autofagie je proces recyklace makromolekul a organel, který má klíčovou úlohu v udržování buněčné homeostázy. Jedná se o vysoce konzervovaný proces, přísně regulovaný produkty autofagických genů. Autophagy is defined as a process that recycles macromolecules and organelles and plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of homeostasis. This process is highly conserved and strictly regulated by products of autophagy genes.
