Carbon layer-coated ordered porous silicas

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na přípravu a následnou modifikaci mezoporézního uspořádaného křemičitého materiálu KIT-5. Modifikace spočívá v pokrytí vnitřní struktury pórů vrstvou uhlíku. Byly vybrány tři metody vytvoření uhlíkové vrstvy. Konvenční impregnační metoda a metoda azeotropní destilace využívající jako prekurzor uhlíku furfurylalkohol a metoda surfaktantu, kde zdrojem uhlíku je přímo povrchově aktivní látka Pluronic F-127 využita při syntéze silikátu KIT-5. U vzorků byla sledována změna texturních vlastností, dále morfologie vytvořené uhlíkové vrstvy a množství uhlíku. Pro charakterizaci vzorků byla použita fyzisorpce N2 při 77 K, transmisní elektronová mikroskopie, infračervená spektroskopie a termická analýza. Všechny metody se jeví jako vhodné k vytvoření uhlíkové vrstvy, nejvhodnější se pak zdá metoda azeotropní destilace. Vzorky s nejlepšími texturními parametry z každé metody vykazovaly snížení povrchu SBET v rozmezí o 46?58 %, snížení průměru pórů o 0,9 nm, přítomnost mikropórů a množství uhlíku v rozmezí 1,3 - 5,9 %. Snímky TEM ukázaly zachování uspořádané struktury, pravidelný tvar pórů a velikost kavit odpovídající distribuci pórů z fyzisorpce dusíku. Ve FT-IR spektrech lze pozorovat změnu signálu pro modifikované silikáty. Rovnoměrné vytvoření uhlíkové vrstvy nebylo provedenými experimenty možné potvrdit.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is focused on the preparation and subsequent modification of the mesoporous ordered silica material KIT-5. The modification consists of covering the internal structure of the pores with a carbon layer. Three methods of creating the carbon layer were chosen. The conventional impregnation method and the azeotropic distillation method using furfuryl alcohol as a carbon precursor and the surfactant method, where as the carbon source is directly used the surfactant Pluronic F-127 employed as structure-directing agent in the synthesis of KIT-5. The samples were monitored for changes in textural properties, as well as the morphology of the formed carbon layer and the amount of carbon. N2 physisorption at 77 K, transmission electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize the samples. All methods seem to be suitable for creating a carbon layer, the azeotropic distillation method seems to be the most suitable. The samples with the best textural parameters from each method showed a decrease in SBET surface area in the range of 46?58 %, a decrease in pore diameter of 0,9 nm, the presence of micropores, and the amount of carbon in the range of 1,3-5,9 %. TEM images showed the maintaining of the ordered structure, the regular shape of the pores and the size of the cavities corresponding to the distribution of the pores from nitrogen physisorption. A change in the signal for modified silicates can be observed in the FT-IR spectra. Through the experiments it was not possible to confirm the uniform formation of the carbon layer.
