Psychosocial Profile of Students of Non-Physician Study Programmes

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje psychosociálnímu profilu studentů nelékařských oborů a jeho souvislosti s výběrem pomáhající profese v porovnání se studenty exaktních studijních oborů. Teoretická část obsahuje vymezení základních pojmů. Jsou jimi nelékařské povolání, osobnostní profil a motivace. Je zde nastíněna problematika výběrového řízení uskutečňujícího se na vysokých školách pro nelékařské studijní obory. Druhou část tvoří vlastní výzkum. Jsou stanoveny cíle výzkumu a hypotézy. Vymezené cíle práce jsou následující: Prvním cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda se osobnostní profil studentů nelékařských zdravotnických oborů shoduje s požadavky kladenými na nelékařského zdravotnického pracovníka a vymezit rozdíly osobnostních profilů studentů humanitních oborů a exaktních věd. Teoretickým východiskem se stalo propojení Mezinárodního kodexu pro zdravotní sestry a Mezinárodního etického kodexu porodních asistentek s obecně požadovanými vlastnostmi, schopnostmi a aktivitami, které uvádí Staňková (2002), Jobánková a kol. (1996) a Zacharová a kol. (2007). Východiskem pro určení rozdílů v dimenzích osobnosti u humanitních a exaktních oborů vycházíme z výzkumů provedených Plhákovou (2010). Druhým cílem bylo vymezit rozdíly osobnostních profilů u studentů humanitních a exaktních oborů. Třetím cílem bylo zjistit motivaci ke studiu nelékařského oboru a porovnat tuto motivaci s motivací ke studiu u studentů exaktních věd. Čtvrtým cílem práce bylo navrhnout vhodnou úpravu výběrového řízení do nelékařských oborů s ohledem na profil a motivaci uchazeče. Ke zjištění osobnostního profilu studentů jsou použity standardizované dotazníky osobnosti - Eysenckovy osobnostní dotazníky pro dospělé EPQ-R a dotazník impulsivity IVE. Pro zjištění motivace ke studiu je použit LMI - Dotazník motivace k výkonu - 2. vydání. Pro úplnost a porovnání motivace je zde uváděna komparace motivace u studentů nelékařských oborů a u studentů exaktních věd.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the psychosocial profile of students of non-medical healthcare and its relationship to the selection of a helping profession in comparison with students of exact study programme. The theoretical part contains definitions of key terms, such as non-medical occupation, personality profile and motivation. The issue of entrance exams for non-medical healthcare programmes is briefly discussed. The second part features the main research. Research aims and hypotheses are set. The aims are as follows: The first aim was to ascertain if the personality profile of students in non-medical healthcare programmes meets the requirements put on a non-medical healthcare professional and to find the differences in personality profiles between students of humanities and exact sciences. The theoretical framework lies in the connection of the ICN Code of Ethics for Nurses and International Code of Ethics for Midwives with general requirement for personal qualities, skills and activities listed by Staňková (2002), Jobánková et al. (1996) and Zacharová (2007). The background for investigating the differences between personality profiles in humanities and exact sciences is based on research conducted by Plháková (2010). The second aim was to determine the differences in personality profiles of students of humanities and exact fields. The third aim was to ascertain the motivation behind studying a non-medical programme and compare this motivation to students of exact sciences. The fourth aim was to propose an appropriate adjustment in entrance exams for non-medical healthcare programmes with respect to the profile and motivation of the candidate. To establish students's personality profile standardised personality questionnaires were used Eysenck Personality Questionnaire for adults EPQ-R and the Impulsivity Inventory IVE. To ascertain the motivation to study, the Achievement Motivation Inventory (AMI) was used, 2nd ed. To complete and compare the motivation, a comparison between motivation amongst students of non-medical programmes and of exact sciences is performed.
