The potential of creek Drnový potok for the development of public spaces in Klatovy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu veřejných prostranství podél toku Drnového v rámci města Klatovy. Práce se zabývá pojmem veřejná prostranství a jeho významem. Současně rozebírá typy veřejných prostranství, jaké funkce plní tato prostranství v rámci urbanistické struktury měst a zároveň jakou funkci mají vodní toky ve městech. Následně rozebírá problematiku spjatou s rozvojem veřejných prostranství podél vodních toků a uvádí některé možnosti a případy revitalizace vodních toků ve městech. Účelem práce bylo zmapovat výskyt veřejných prostranství na území města Klatovy a zhodnotit aktuální stav vybraných prostranství. V souvislosti s již vypracovanou územní studií, která se zabývá veřejnými prostranstvími v intravilánu města Klatovy, byla tato studie posuzována, zdali jsou návrhy v ní uvedené skutečně adekvátní k současnému stavu těchto míst a zdali by byla navrhovaná změna žádaná z pohledu každodenních interakcí obyvatel. Spolu s tím bylo jedním z cílů této práce zjistit oblasti možného rozvoje těchto i dalších potenciálních prostranství a navrhnout jejich zapojení v souvislosti s Drnovým potokem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of public spaces along the creek Drnový potok within the city of Klatovy. The thesis deals with the concept of public spaces and its meaning. At the same time, it analyses the types of public spaces, what functions these spaces fulfil within the urban structure of cities and also what function watercourses have in cities. It then discusses the issues related to the development of public spaces along watercourses and presents some possibilities and cases of revitalisation of watercourses in cities. The aim of the thesis was to map the occurrence of public spaces in the territory of the city of Klatovy and to evaluate the current state of selected spaces. In the context of the already prepared spatial study, which deals with public spaces in the intravital area of the city of Klatovy, this study assessed whether the proposals in it are really adequate to the current state of these places and whether the proposed change would be desirable in terms of everyday interactions of the inhabitants. Along with this, one of the objectives of this work was to identify areas of potential development for these and other potential spaces and to propose their involvement in relation to the creek Drnový potok.
