Debt Spiral and Insolvency of Individuals

Abstract:

Záměrem bakalářské práce je zmapování zadluženosti domácností v České republice. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první jsou zejména vymezeny relevantní pojmy zadluženost domácností a její měření dluhová spirála, exekuce a insolvence. Ve druhé části se analyzuje regionální rozložení podaných žádostí o oddlužení, věková struktura žadatelů o oddlužení a jejich rozdělení dle pohlaví. Pozornost je věnována také vývoji počtu podaných žádostí o oddlužení s ohledem na změny insolvenčního zákona. Byly analyzovány vztahy mezi 1) počtem podaných žádostí o oddlužení a mediánem hrubé mzdy v jednotlivých krajích; 2) mezi počtem podaných žádostí o oddlužení a obecnou mírou nezaměstnanosti v jednotlivých okresech ČR; 3) mezi počtem podaných žádostí o oddlužení a podílem osob v exekuci v jednotlivých okresech ČR a 4) mezi počtem žádostí o oddlužení a podílem osob se závazkem po splatnosti v registru SOLUS v jednotlivých okresech. V prvním případě nebyla zjištěna velmi silná korelace, ve druhém případě byla zaznamenána pouze střední silná pozitivní korelace, poslední dva vztahy vykazují velmi silnou korelaci mezi proměnnými.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis aims to map household indebtedness in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into two parts: the first part contains in particular the definitions of the relevant terms, such as household indebtedness and its measurement, debt spiral, and debt enforcement and insolvency proceedings, while the second part contains an analysis of the regional distribution of applications for debt relief, age structure of the applicants for debt relief and their breakdown by gender. Attention is also paid to the development in the number of applications for debt relief filed in the light of the changes to the Insolvency Act. An analysis was made of the relationships between (1) the number of the applications for debt relief filed and the median of the gross salary in the individual regions; (2) the number of the applications for debt relief filed and the general unemployment rate in the individual districts of the Czech Republic; (3) the number of the applications for debt relief filed and the percentage of persons in respect of whom debt enforcement proceedings are pending in the individual districts of the Czech Republic and (4) the number of the applications for debt relief and the percentage of the persons whose overdue liabilities are entered in the SOLUS register in the individual districts of the Czech Republic. No very strong correlation has been found to exist in the first case, whereas only a moderately strong positive correlation has been observed in the second case. The last two relationships show a very strong correlation between the variables.
