Current status and potential of the SMART City concept in small and medium-sized statutory cities of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje aktuálnímu stavu a potenciálu konceptu Smart City v malých a středně velkých českých statutárních městech, která zároveň nejsou městy krajskými. Hlavním cílem práce je identifikovat, v jaké fázi se tato města nacházejí z hlediska adopce a míry implementace uvedeného konceptu. Dílčím cílem je sestavení jejich výhledu do roku 2025 a zjištění, ve kterých dimenzích zmíněného konceptu spatřují tato města největší potenciál pro svůj rozvoj. První část práce se zaměřuje na teoretická východiska zkoumané problematiky. V praktické části je v návaznosti na splnění vytyčených cílů proveden výzkum formou dotazníkového šetření a řízených rozhovorů. Ze získaných poznatků vyplývá, že v současnosti dominuje adopci Smart City trio Teplice, Mladá Boleslav a Kladno, na čemž by se ani do roku 2025 nemělo nic změnit. Jako prioritní oblast je městy vnímána zejména dimenze smart mobility.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis describes the current status and potential of the Smart City concept in small and medium-sized czech statutory cities, which are not simultaneously region seats. The main aim of the thesis is to identify the phase of these cities in terms of adoption and implementation of the concept. A sub-aim is to describe their outlook for 2025 and to ascertain in which dimensions of the concept the cities see the greatest potential for their development. The first part of the thesis is focused on the theoretical background of the issue. In the practical part, the research is carried out via a questionnaire survey and guided interviews. Based on findings, the top 3 cities are currently Teplice, Mladá Boleslav and Kladno, which should not change untitl 2025. In particular, the smart mobility is perceived by cities as a priority area.
