Use of business rules in Service Oriented Architecture

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá byznys pravidly a jejich uplatněním v rámci IS/ICT řešení podniku v architektuře orientované na služby, konkrétním popisovaným softwarem je IBM Operational Decision Management (ODM).Cílem této práce je analyzovat fenomén byznys pravidel, umístění pravidel v architektuře informačního systému společnosti a využití pravidel v rámci byznys systému společnosti s důrazem na jejich přínosy.Ve své teoretické části práce popisuje byznys pravidla, důvody pro jejich použití v byznys systému podniku a přínosy, které z tohoto použití vyplývají, cituje základní definice technologií, protokolů a jiných prostředků používaných pro návrh, vývoj a nasazení byznys pravidel. Rovněž jsou uvedeny zásady pro návrh byznys pravidel, aby jejich využití bylo efektivní a mělo očekávané přínosy.Tyto teoretické poznatky jsou v práci uplatněny na příkladu BRMS IBM ODM a jeho vývojářského nástroje Rule Designer, který je rozšířením vývojového prostředí Eclipse. Dále je prezentován příklad zadání byznys pravidla, jeho následná detailní analýza, modelace, vývoj a nasazení na lokálním serveru, stejně jako otestování průběhu pravidla. Je prezentováno několik způsobů řešení, které IBM ODM dovoluje, tyto způsoby jsou pak vzájemně porovnány s ohledem na různé způsoby využití.

Abstract:

The theme of this bachelor's thesis is business rules and their application in the Service Ori-ented Architecture of an enterprise's IS/ICT solution, with IBM Operational Decision Ma-nagement (ODM) software as an example.The aim of this work is to analyze the phenomenon of business rules, the placement of rules in the architecture of the company's information system and the use of rules within the business system of the company, with an emphasis on their benefits.In its theoretical part, the thesis describes the rules, the reasons for their use in the business system of the company, and the benefits that result from it, quotes the basic definitions of technologies, protocols, and other means used for the design, development and deployment of business rules. Also, there are given principles for designing business rules to make them effective and have the expected benefits.These theoretical findings are presented on the example of BRMS IBM ODM and its IDE Rule Designer, which is an extension of the Eclipse development environment. The following is an example of the business rule definition from the business users, its detailed analysis, modeling, development and deployment on the local server, as well as testing the flow of the rule. Several ways of solution possible in IBM ODM are presented, these possibilities are then compared to each other with an emphasis on their different uses.
