Utilization of Digital Technologies in Interaction with Art Museum Visitors

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje muzeu umění v digitální době, jeho roli ve společnosti a důležitosti vytváření živoucí a propojující instituce. Důraz je kladen na změny a výzvy, kterým muzejnictví v současnosti čelí, přičemž pro účely této práce je nejdůležitější trend návštěvnicky orientovaného muzea. Jsou sledovány možnosti využití digitálních technologií, jejich výhody, ale i limity, kterých by si muzea v práci s návštěvníkem měla být vědoma. Práce také poukazuje na to, jaké nároky tyto nové výzvy kladou na management muzea, jeho zaměstnance, technologické vybavení a další důležité aspekty. V praktické části jsou na základě teorie a kvalitativních polostrukturovaných rozhovorů sledovány vybrané instituce v České republice a jejich přístup k návštěvníkům s využitím digitálních technologií. Dále jsou zde uvedeny příklady zahraničních muzeí, která orientaci na návštěvníka a další změny způsobené digitalizací úspěšně praktikují. Cílem práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem česká muzea umění se svými návštěvníky pracují a jak v tomto směru využívají digitální technologie.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on art museums in digital era, their role in the society and the importance of creating living and connecting institutions. The emphasis is placed on the changes and challenges that museology currently faces, and for the purpose of this thesis, the most important is the trend of a visitor-oriented museum. The thesis monitors the possibilities of utilizing digital technologies, their advantages, but also the limits that museums should be aware of when working with their visitors. It also points out demands that these new technologies place on museum management, its employees, technological equipment and other important aspects.Based on the theory and qualitative semi-structured interviews, the practical part of the thesis monitors selected institutions in the Czech Republic and their approach to their visitors using digital technologies. There are also examples of foreign museums that successfully practice the visitor orientation and other changes caused by digitalization. The aim of this thesis is to find out how Czech art museums work with their visitors and how they utilize digital technologies to do so.
