The Impact of the Conflict between Ukraine and Russia on International Grain Trade

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem konfliktu mezi Ukrajinou a Ruskem na mezinárodní obchod s obilím. Cílem této práce je zjistit, jak se změnily obchodní toky obilí v důsledku konfliktu na Ukrajině, a posoudit dopad na rozvojové země jako hlavní odběratele. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol, přičemž první kapitola se zaměřuje na mezinárodní obchod s obilím, analyzuje principy trhu a poskytuje popis struktury obchodu s obilím. V této kapitole jsou identifikováni hlavní producenti a klíčoví dodavatelé a odběratelé na celosvětové úrovni. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na specifika zahraničního obchodu s ukrajinským obilím. Zahrnuje informace o rozsahu zemědělské půdy věnované pěstování obilí a dominantních obilných plodinách. Poskytuje analýzu exportu ukrajinského obilí – množství, typy obilí a destinace. V této části se dále popisuje pohled na existující obchodní dohody a formy spolupráce v oblasti exportu ukrajinského obilí. Poslední kapitola analyzuje dopad konfliktu na mezinárodní obchod s ukrajinským obilím. Zabývá se změnami v ukrajinském vývozu obilí, zejména v kontextu rozvojových zemí jako odběratelů tohoto obilí. Účelem této kapitoly je posoudit, jak konflikt ovlivnil strukturu vyváženého obilí a jaké jsou důsledky těchto změn pro mezinárodní trh.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the impact of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia on international grain trade. The aim of this thesis is to identify how grain trade flows have changed as a result of the conflict in Ukraine and to assess the impact on developing countries as major buyers. The thesis is divided into three chapters, the first chapter focuses on international grain trade, analyses the market principles and provides a description of the structure of grain trade. This chapter identifies the main producers and key suppliers and buyers at the global level. The second chapter focuses on the specifics of foreign trade in Ukrainian grain. It includes information on the extent of agricultural land available for grain cultivation and the dominant grain crops. It provides an analysis of Ukrainian grain exports - quantities, types of grain and destinations. This section also describes a look at existing trade agreements and forms of cooperation in the area of Ukrainian grain exports. The last chapter analyses the impact of the conflict on international trade in Ukrainian grain. It looks at changes in Ukrainian grain exports, particularly in the context of developing countries as buyers of this grain. The purpose of this chapter is to assess how the conflict has affected the structure of grain exports and what the implications of these changes are for the international market.
