A Comparison of Using PR Tools for Projects “Athens 2004” and “Prague Olympics“

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je studií o prostředcích PR použitých pro prosazování Prahy, jako kandidátského města na olympijské hry pro rok konání 2016, respektive 2020 a srovnání užití těchto prostředků se zvolenými nástroji již zakončené kampaně Atény 2004. Studie představuje základní nástroje PR, jejich obecné použití a následnou aplikaci na poli sportovního marketingu a marketingu olympijských her. Metodou zjednodušené komparace hodnotí přístupy, jakými byly komunikovány a zpracovány jednotlivé složky kampaní daných měst s důraznějším přihlédnutím na segmenty příznivců a odpůrců pražské olympiády. V první kapitole se zaměřuje na teorii marketingové komunikace podniku a popisuje základní nástroje PR, které využívá. Druhá kapitola představuje rysy a specifika PR ve sportovním segmentu a též uvádí do problematiky pořadatelství OH z historického, ideového i marketingového hlediska. Třetí kapitola je věnována samotnému popisu a komparaci přístupů obou měst v rámci stanovených referenčních proměnných. Výsledky, formulované v závěrečné kapitole rozvíjí konkrétní návrhy, které by mohly sloužit jako reflexe pro komunikace případných budoucích pražských kandidatur.

Abstract:

This bachelor is a study of PR means used in promotion of Prague as the candidate city for the Olympic Games in 2016, or 2020, and comparison of the use of these means with selected tools of the already finished campaign for Athens 2004. The study introduces basic PR tools, their general utilization, and subsequent application in the field of sports marketing and marketing of the Olympic Games. Through the method of simplified comparison it evaluates attitudes in communication and elaboration of individual elements of campaigns of given cities with regard to segments of supporters and opponents of the Olympic Games in Prague. In the first chapter it focuses on the theory of corporate marketing communication and describes basic PR tools it uses. The second chapter introduces features and specifics of PR in the field of sports, and also presents the issue of organization of the Olympic Games from the historical, ideological, as well as marketing point of view. The third chapter deals with the actual description and comparison of attitudes of both cities within specified reference variables. The results, which are formulated in the final chapter, develop specific proposals that could serve as a reflection for communication of potential future Olympic bids by Prague.
