Regarding the Relation between Substance and Process

Abstract:

Anotace: Tato práce argumentuje ve prospěch substančního modelu v ontologii. Hlavní argument proti všem nesubstancialistickým ontologiím, zejména tzv. procesuální metafyzice se odkazuje na princip přejatý z kybernetiky. Tímto principem je princip omezení variety. Dle naší teze je substance základním ontologickým předpokladem tohoto principu, který shledáváme ve veškeré přírodě. Konkrétním objektem, který by měl odpovídat konceptu substance a který by měl fungovat jako fundament omezující varietu objektů v univerzu, je ve své podstatě démokritovský atom, respektive jeho v moderní fyzikální teorii předpokládané ekvivalenty.

Abstract:

This paper reasons in favour of substance concept in ontology. The major reason against all nonsubstance ontologies especially against so called process metaphysics refers to priciples derived from cybernetics. This is principle of restriction of variety. According to our proposition the substance is the basic ontological premise of the mentioned principle, which could be met entirely in nature. The particular object, which could match the substance concept and which should functionate as the fundamental restricting the variety od objects in Universe is as a matter of fact democritean atom, respectively its modern physics equivalents.
