Tato práce představuje pragmatickou analýzu dvou textů gotické literatury, novely Carmilla Sheridana Le Fanu a románu Drákula Brama Stokera, a soustředí se na verbální komunikaci titulárních upírů. This thesis presents a pragmatic analysis of the two Gothic texts and focuses on the verbal behaviour of the vampire protagonists, Count Dracula and Carmilla. Through a quantitative analysis, it aims to explain how they use speech acts and politeness to manipulate their victims and how these communicative strategies correspond to the vampires’ ways of spreading their curse.
