The Animation of abandoned buildings through theatre productions

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je průzkum, zda je divadelní představení ve formě site specific adekvátní formou pro animaci opuštěných budov. Práce obsahuje základní popis této umělecké formy a výčet některých projektů, které se zabývaly animací kultury. Dále jsou zde zmíněny ekonomické, marketingové a personální prostředky, které se v běžné praxi využívají. V teoretické části práce je také kladen důraz na analýzu organizace nezávislých festivalů, které se orientují na site specific projekty.Tato analýza se převážně zaměřuje na festival 4+4 dny v pohybu. Praktická část se zaobírá workshopem Štkaní, který se v posledních třech letech odehrál v opuštěném areálu Textilany v Novém Městě pod Smrkem. V práci se hodnotí kvalita managementu uskutečněných ročníků a vliv této aktivity na místní obyvatele. Práce došla k závěru, že aktivita spolku je přínosná za každých okolností a tudíž se divadelní představení site specific dá považovat za vhodný nástroj pro animaci opuštěných prostor.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to survey whether the site-specific performance is an adequate form for the animation of abandoned buildings. Work provides a basic description of this art form and list of cultural animation projects. Furthermore there are mentioned economical, marketing and personnel resources that are usually used in common practice. The theoretical part is also about organization of independent festivals focused on site-specific projects, monitoring mainly activity of 4 + 4 Days in Motion. The practical part is about workshop Štkaní, that was situated into the abandoned textile factory complex in Nové Město pod Smrkem for the last three years. The work assesses the quality of management of these events and the impact of this activity on locals. The thesis concluded that the activity of the association is beneficial at all times. Therefore site-specific theater performances can be considered as an appropriate tool for the animation of abandoned places
