Contentment of hospitalized patients as one of healthy care quality indicators

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na úroveň spokojenosti hospitalizovaných pacientů s kvalitou poskytované zdravotní péče na lůžkových odděleních v Nemocnici Břeclav. V úvodu teoretické části se zabývá kvalitou zdravotní péče. Čtenář je seznámen se systémem kvality ve zdravotnictví a s přehledem kvality zdravotní péče z hlediska struktury, procesu a výsledku péče. Proces kontinuálního zvyšování kvality vyžaduje týmovou spolupráci všech poskytovatelů péče. Proto je v práci věnována pozornost managementu, kvalifikačním předpokladům zdravotnických pracovníků a způsobům komunikace ve zdravotnictví. Dále jsou v teoretické části uvedeny možnosti měření kvality pomocí různých kritérií neboli indikátorů kvality zdravotní péče. Stručně jsou popsány příklady nejčastěji sledovaných indikátorů kvality zdravotní péče. Jedním z ukazatelů kvality zdravotní péče je spokojenost pacientů, která vypovídá o výsledcích poskytované péče. Ve své praktické části se věnuji průzkumu spokojenosti hospitalizovaných pacientů s poskytovanou péčí. Průzkum byl proveden metodou „focus groups“ (cílených rozhovorů). Výsledky šetření detailně seznamují čtenáře s nejčastějšími názory, postoji a připomínkami pacientů ke kvalitě zdravotní péče. Práce přispívá ke zviditelnění metody cílených rozhovorů při šetření spokojenosti pacientů a k možnosti jejího využití v dalších zdravotnických zařízeních. V závěru poukazuji na zjištěné výhody a nedostatky provedeného průzkumu.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on a level of contentment of hospitalized patients with quality of provided healthy care in bed wards of the Hospital Břeclav. In the beginning of the theoretical part it deals with the quality of healthy care. The reader is introduced to the quality system in health service and to the survey of healthy care quality from the point of view of structure, process and care result. The process of continual increasing of quality requires the team co-operation of all the care providers. Therefore the attention to management, qualification conditions of medical staff and ways of communication in health service is paid in the thesis. Further the options of quality measurement by means of various criteria or quality indicators of healthy care are given in the theoretical part. The examples of the most often monitored healthy care quality indicators are briefly described. One of the healthy care quality indicators is the contentment of patients and it predicates of provided care results. In the practical part of the thesis I turn to the survey of contentment of hospitalized patients with provided care. The survey was made by the method of focus groups. Readers are shown in detail the patients' most often opinions, attitudes and reminders to the healthy care quality by means of the investigation results. The thesis contributes to visualization of the focus group method at survey of patients' contentment and to the option of its usage in other healthy institutions. Finally I point at localized advantages and disadvantages of the realized survey.
