Aesthetics of scenic dance: between apollonian and dionysian principle

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, jaké aspekty apollinského a dionýského principu se sebou výrazový tanec nese a ke kterému tíhne více. Práce v první části analyzuje a objasňuje apollinský a dionýský princip podle Nietzscheho filozofického spisu „Zrození tragédie z ducha hudby“, přičemž se v následujících kapitolách pokouší porovnávat estetické, umělecké a praktické teorie tance a pohybu, především výrazového tance, z hlediska těchto dvou principů. V poslední části práce je věnována pozornost tělu jako uměleckému, výrazovému nástroji umělce a jeho využití.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to uncover which aspects of Apollonian and Dionysian principle are part of contemporary dance and to which principle it gravitates more. In the first part of the thesis, Apollonian and Dionysian principles as defined in philosophical work “The Birth of Tragedy from the Spirit of Music” by Nietzsche are analysed and explained. In the following chapters, a comparison of aesthetical, artistical and practical theories of dance and movement, mainly contemporary dance, is done in terms of these principles. The last part of the thesis is focused on the body and its usage as artistical means of communication of an artist.
