The aim of this thesis is to uncover which aspects of Apollonian and Dionysian principle are part of contemporary dance and to which principle it gravitates more. In the first part of the thesis, Apollonian and Dionysian principles as defined in philosophical work “The Birth of Tragedy from the Spirit of Music” by Nietzsche are analysed and explained.
