Women in labour communicating only in a foreign language from the perspective of midwives

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o problematice komunikování porodních asistentek s ženami, které hovoří pouze cizím jazykem. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část popisuje komunikaci v porodní asistenci, dále je zde rozebrána multikulturní péče v porodní asistenci, specifika vybraných národnostních menšin v ČR a kompetence a vzdělávání porodních asistentek. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, jakým způsobem se porodní asistentky dorozumívají s cizinkami v porodnicích v rámci průzkumného šetření prováděného ve čtyřech nemocnicích ve vybraném kraji České republiky pomocí nestandardizovaného dotazníku. Výsledky průzkumného šetření jsou uvedeny v samostatné kapitole.

Abstract:

The master thesis is about the issue of communication between midwives and women who speak only in a foreign language. It consists of both a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes communication in a midwifery, multicultural care in a midwifery, the specifics of some national minorities in the Czech republic and the competences and education of midwives. The main aim of the thesis was to find out how midwives communicate with foreigners in maternity hospitals. This was done by a survey carried out in four hospitals in a selected region of the Czech republic using a non-standardized questionnaire. The results of the research findings are presented in this work.
