Possibilities of support of people with autism in the field of social services in the Moravian-Silesian region

Abstract:

Autismus se v posledních letech stává fenoménem v mnoha odborných i laických diskusích a povědomí o této diagnóze roste i v rámci širší veřejnosti. Přesto existuje stále spousta oblastí, jenž se stávají pro jedince s autismem a jejich rodiny často až neřešitelným problémem. Jednou z nich je i podpora ze strany sociálních služeb. Práce se zabývá problematikou dostupnosti a kvality sociálních služeb ve vztahu k osobám s autismem na území Moravskoslezského kraje. Teoretická část má tři kapitoly, které tvoří teoretický základ následného výzkumného šetření. První kapitola je věnována samotnému tématu autismu, jeho etiologii, projevům, klasifikacím, ale také historickému vývoji či diagnostice autismu. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na sociální služby, ovšem z velké části právě v kontextu osob s autismem, otázkou jejich začlenění a vybranými sociálními službami, které jsou mnohdy vyhledávané danou cílovou skupinou. Poslední kapitola teoretické části popisuje konkrétní specifika práce s osobami s autismem, jako je využití strukturovaného učení, možnosti alternativní a augmentativní komunikace či problémové chování těchto jedinců a jeho terapie. Praktická část je založená na výzkumném šetření složeného z kvantitativního i kvalitativního výzkumu. Kvantitativní část proběhla pomocí dotazníkového šetření. Respondenty dotazníku byli zástupci sociálních služeb v Moravskoslezském kraji. Na základě jejich odpovědí bylo vybráno pět zařízení, s jejichž zástupci proběhla formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, následující kvalitativní část výzkumu. Závěr výzkumného šetření je průnikem obou části výzkumu a poukazuje na základní zjištěné problémy v poskytování sociálních služeb osobám v autismem v Moravskoslezském kraji.

Abstract:

In recent years, autism has become a phenomenon in many professional and lay discussions, and the public awareness of this diagnosis has been increasing. Yet there are still many areas that are becoming an insoluble problem for individuals with autism and their families. One of them is the support from social services. This thesis deals with the issue of accessibility and quality of social services in relation to people with autism in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The theoretical part has three chapters, which form the theoretical basis of the subsequent research. The first chapter is devoted to the topic of autism itself, its etiology, symptoms, classifications, and also to the historical development or diagnosis of autism. Second chapter focuses on social services, especially in the context of people with autism, the issue of their inclusion and selected social services, which are often sought by the target group. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes the specifics of working with people with autism, such as the use of Structured Learning, alternatives and augmentative communication or problem behavior of these individuals and its therapy. The practical part is based on a research consisting of both, quantitative and qualitative research. The quantitative part was conducted as questionnaire survey. The questionnaire respondents were representatives of social services in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Based on the answers, five institution were selected, and their representatives were interviewed in the form of semi-structured interviews, followed by the qualitative part of the research. The conclusion of the research is an intersection of both parts of the research, and points out the basic problems found in the provision of social services to persons with autism in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
