Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá využitím muzikálových písní ve výuce anglického jazyka se zaměřením na diskusi a kritické myšlení žáků. Cílem této práce je prozkoumat oblast využití muzikálových písní ve výuce anglického jazyka pro vytvoření sady plánů hodin věnovaných dějové linii vybrané muzikálové písně. Bakalářská práce je věnována teenagerům, neboť právě tato je cílovou skupinou autorova studia. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na téma využití písní ve výuce anglického jazyka, zabývá se výhodami a nevýhodami muzikálových písní oproti jiným písním používaným ve výuce anglického jazyka. Teoretická část dále zkoumá specifika výuky teenagerů, jejich motivaci a roli učitele ve vyučovacím procesu. Praktická část vychází z výzkumu, který autor vedl s žáky osmého a devátého ročníku devítileté základní školy po odučení navržených vyučovacích hodin. Výzkumnou otázkou je, zda soubor ucelených vyučovacích plánů věnovaných zajímavé dějové linii muzikálové písně bude motivovat žáky ke kritickému myšlení a diskusi. Další oblastí, kterou empirická část zkoumá, je postoj žáků k diskusi při výuce anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is making use of songs from musicals in teaching English with discussion and critical thinking being the preferred methods. The thesis aims at studying the use of songs from musicals in teaching English as a tool to establish a set of lesson plans dedicated to the storyline behind the musical of choice. The thesis is targeting at teenagers as they are the core group of the author’s university studies. The Theoretical part focuses on music in teaching English and covers the pros and cons of songs from musicals compared with other types of songs used in teaching the language. The author explores the specifics of teaching teenagers, including their motivation and the role of the teacher in the process. The Empirical part is based on a survey that the author conducted with pupils of eighth and ninth grades within a nine-year school programme after testing pilot lessons designed by the author. The research question is whether or not the set of coherent lesson plans created around an attractive storyline behind the song from a musical can motivate pupils to critical thinking and discussion. Additionally, the Empirical part explores the attitude of pupils toward discussion in English lessons.
