Genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) encode surface glycoproteins that are capable of binding antigenic peptides and subsequently present them to T-lymphocytes, which they contribute of causing the immune response. Geny hlavního histokompatibilného komplexu (MHC) kódují povrchové glykoproteiny, které jsou schopné vázat antigenní peptidy a následně jich prezentovat T-lymfocytům, čím se podílejí na vzniku imunitní odpovědi.
