Activities of the Old Prague Association in the relation to the new development in the Masaryk Railway Station surroundings

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je případovou studií řešící aktivity Klubu Za starou Prahu v procesu schvalování projektu v ulici Na Florenci u Masarykova nádraží, kde byl postaven polyfunkční objekt Masaryk Centre 1. Práce se zabývá schvalovacím procesem projektu s důrazem na památkářské hledisko a úlohou Klub Za starou Prahu, který s výstavbou objektu od začátku nesouhlasil. Práce si klade za cíl na základě zkoumaného případu pochopit nedostatky současného systému památkové péče a zhodnotit činnost Klubu Za starou Prahu v rámci tohoto případu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is a case study addressing the activities of the Old Prague Association in approval process of a project in the Na Florenci Street near the Masaryk Railway Station, where the multifunctional Masaryk Centre 1 building was built. The thesis focuses on the project approval process with an emphasis on heritage aspects and the role of the Old Prague Association, which opposed the construction of the building from the beginning. The aim of the thesis is to understand the shortcomings of the current heritage conservation system and to evaluate the activities of the Old Prague Association within this case.
