The Kinetics in the Pop and Jazz Music of the 20th Century

Abstract:

Hlavním předmětem práce je hudební kinetika a použití jejich jednotlivých principů v reflexi populární a jazzové hudby 20. století. Tématem úvodní části je základní terminologie hudební kinetiky. Dále se práce v jednotlivých kapitolách zaměřuje na charakteristické rysy uvedených hudebních žánrů a na různorodých ukázkách analyzuje práci s jednotlivými kinetickými složkami – s tempem, rytmem, hudebně-časovým dělením, akcentací a dalšími. Vybrané ukázky jsou představiteli žánrů funky, blues-rock, swing, jazz-fusion atp., které souhrnně řadíme do oblasti populární a jazzové hudby. Práce je rozšířena o několik vlastních výzkumů ve spolupráci s mládeží různé hudební úrovně.

Abstract:

The main subject matter of this thesis is the musical kinetics and use of its systems in the reflection of the pop and jazz music of the 20th century. The basic terminology of the musical kinetics is a topic of the opening part. The following chapters deal with characteristic features in concrete musical genres and various examples that analyse particular kinetic components – tempo, rhythm, musical-timing divisions, accents and others. Chosen examples are representatives of the pop and jazz musical genres, such as funky, blues-rock, swing, jazz-fusion etc. The thesis is enlarged by a few researches executed with schoolchildren of different musical level.
