The aesthetics of a cathedral as a complex expression of mystery

Abstract:

Práce se pokouší odhalovat na první pohled možná ze skrytých charakteristik estetična katedrály. Prvně se obecně zabývá katedrálou jako takovou, jejím původem, umístěním, orientací a rysy. Dále se věnuje estetickému prožitku ve vztahu ke katedrále. Ve druhé části práce jsou představeni dva autoři a jejich spisy, jenž katedrálu popisují podrobně: Spisy o Saint-Denis od opata Sugera a Tajemství katedrál od Fulcanelliho. Mezi spisy je provedena komparace, která určí podobná východiska autorů. V závěru práce jsou uvedené skryté charakteristiky estetična zkompletovány a zasazeny do otázek lidského sebepochopení, čímž dojde k poodhalení tajemství katedrály.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis tries gradual revealing of characteristics of cathedral aesthetic which might seem hidden on the first sight. Gradually deals with cathedral as it is, it's origin, placement, orientation and features. Then deals with aesthetical experience towards Cathedral. In the second part of the work there are introduced two authors and their writings that describe cathedral in detail: Writings about Saint-Denis by abbot Suger and The Mystery of the Cathedrals by Fulcanelli. Comparison between these two writings determines similar ideas of authors. In the end of the work are completed all stated hidden characteristics of aesthetic and put into questions about self understanding of a man and his value ranking which reveals the secret of the cathedral.
