Abstract:
Tato magisterská práce se zabývá různými přístupy ke smrti ve viktoriánské Anglii pomocí srovnání dvou literárních děl s každodenní skutečností. Prvním dílem, které reprezentuje ranné viktoriánské období, je Starožitníkův krám od Charlese Dickense. Druhé dílo, Neblahý Juda od Thomase Hardyho, reprezentuje konec devatenáctého století.
Abstract:
This thesis studies the varying attitudes to death in Victorian England by comparing factual information with two novels. The first, representing the beginning of the period, is The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens. The second, representing the end of the nineteenth century, is Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy.
