Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vliv technologií v literárních dílech Fahrenheit 451 a The Circle. Závěry práce naznačují, že nadměrné využívání technologií hlavních postav má negativní dopad vedoucí k dehumanizaci a vzrůstajícímu dohledu, což postihuje podstatu lidské identity a mezilidské interakce. Témata obsažená ve zmíněných dílech jsou během analýzy porovnána s aktuálními problémy našeho světa spojenými se sociálními médii, sběrem dat a high-tech zařízeními, což zdůrazňuje relevanci těchto dystopií a v nich obsažených témat.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis analyzes the technology’s impact in the selected works Fahrenheit 451 and The Circle. The findings of the thesis suggest that the overuse of technology and the excessive reliance on it negatively affects the characters and becomes a force for dehumanization and surveillance, eroding the essence of identity and interaction between individuals. Throughout the analysis, parallels are drawn to contemporary societal challenges, particularly those associated with social media, data collection, and advanced technological devices. This serves to underscore the timeless relevance of these narratives and the enduring resonance of their themes.
