Prevention of Loneliness and Social Isolation of the Elderly

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje osamělosti a sociální izolaci, jakožto velmi závažnému jevu ohrožující seniory. Z pohledu seniorů se podíváme na úskalí této problematiky a její pre-venci. První kapitola teoretické části pojednává o teoretických východiscích. Druhá kapito-la je zaměřena na pojetí stáří a stárnutí, změny ve stáří, sociální osamělost a izolaci seniorů, jejich determinanty a vliv na zdraví. Poslední kapitola se věnuje prevenci osamělosti a sociální izolace. Dozvídáme se více o aktivizaci seniorů a vhodných volnočasových aktivi-tách. V empirické části je vylíčen výzkum a jeho výsledky, které byly získány prostřednic-tvím narativních rozhovorů se seniory. Získaná data byla následně zpracována pomocí ote-vřeného kódování. Cílem výzkumu je zmapovat metody prevence osamělosti a sociální izolace z pohledu institucionalizovaných seniorů, dále pak zjistit jak vnímají tento nepří-jemný jev a jeho příčiny, jaká opatření proti osamělosti vnímají jako nápomocná.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with loneliness and social isolation as a very serious phenomenon threa-tening the elderly. We look on this issue of the elderly from their perspective. The first chapter discusses the theoretical foundations. The second chapter is focused on conception of aging, loneliness, social isolation of the seniors, their influence on health determinants. The last chapter is devoted to the prevention of loneliness and social isolation. We learn more about the activation of seniors, their leisure time activities. In the empirical part is described research and its results that have been gained throug in narrative interview and the obtained data were processed using open coding. This research aims is to explore methods of preventing loneliness and social isolation from perspective of the elderly, next aim is to find out how they feel about impact of this unpleasant phenomenon and its cau-ses, also what measures they perceived as helpful against loneliness.
