The Regency Era had a very defined culture that differed from many of our cultures today. In this thesis, I would like to analyse and compare the societal constructs of Regency England, as depicted in Jane Austen's novels Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion against the contemporary landscape of Indian culture through Uzma Jalaluddin’s Ayesha at Last and general cultural observation.
