Importance of Manual Titration in the Patient Setting for Pressure Breathing Therapy from a Sleep Technician's Perspective

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřená na spánkovou medicínu, konkrétně pak na porovnání dvou různých technik nastavení pacientů na terapii přetlakového dýchání. Teoretická část se soustřeďuje na historii spánkové medicíny, roly sestry a spánkového technika ve spánkové laboratoři, dále na spánek a klasifikaci poruch spánku, obstrukční spánkovou apnoi a využití manuální titrace v nastavení pacientů na terapii přetlakového dýchání. Terapie přetlakového dýchání je hlavní léčbou syndromu obstrukční spánkové apnoe. Hlavním cílem práce bylo porovnat efektivitu nastavení pacientů na terapii přetlakového dýchání pomocí auto titrace a manuální titrace.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on sleep medicine, specifically on the comparison between of two different techniques of setting patients for the treatment of pressurised breathing. The theoretical part focuses on the history of sleep medicine, the role of the nurse and sleep technician in the sleep laboratory, as well as sleep and classification of sleep disorders, obstructive sleep apnea and the use of manual titration in setting patients for pressurised breathing therapy. The pressurised breathing therapy is the main treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. The aim was to compare the efficacy of patients' settings for the treatment of pressurised breathing using autotitration and manual titration.
