The issue of financing and marketing in non-traditional theatre production

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem realizace divadelních inscenací v netradičním prostoru, rovněž označovaných jako site specific divadelní projekty. Cílem práce je identifikovat nejdůležitější znaky site specific inscenací, rozdělit je do skupin dle způsobu provedení a následně nalézt charakteristické znaky práce v jednotlivých typech nedivadelních prostorů. Dále je proveden výzkum vývoje divadelního prostoru, na jehož základě je hledána odpověď na otázku, co lze v současné době označit za tradiční prostor divadla. V poslední části práce jsou zmapovány možností financování a marketingových nástrojů užívaných při realizaci divadla v netradičním prostoru. Tato část je doplněna dvěma případovými studiemi, jež se zaměřují na financování a marketing dvou konkrétních site specific projektů (projekt Loučky divadla T.E.J.P., inscenace Ninivea divadla D´EPOG). Práce zobrazuje průřez současnou produkcí site specific projektů inscenovaných na našem území z hlediska jejich realizace, financování a propagace. Zároveň by měla posloužit začínajícím divadelním souborům jako zdroj informací pro seznámení s danou problematikou a uvedenými příklady poskytnout inspiraci pro tvůrčí práci v této oblasti.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the realization of theatrical productions in non-traditional spaces, also known as site specific theatre projects. The aim is to identify the most important characteristics of site specific productions, divide them into groups according to the method of implementation and then find the characteristics of work in different types of non-theatrical spaces. The research of the developement of the theatrical spaces has also been done and on its basis the question 'What can now be described as the traditional theartical space.' can be answeared. In the last part there has been mapped financing options and marketing tools used in the implementation of non-traditional theatre space. This section is supplemented by two case studies that focus on the financing and marketing of two particular site specific projects (Loučky T.E.J.P. theatre, play Ninivea D'EPOG theatre). The thesis shows the cross section of the current production site specific projects staged in our country in terms of their implementation, financing and promotion. It should also help new theatre companies as a resource for information about this problem and these examples may provide inspiration for creative work in this area.
