Commented Translation of the Subtitles in the Documentary Film „Hledání východu“

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce nese titul Komentovaný překlad titulků k dokumentárnímu filmu „Hledání východu“ a klade si za cíl popsat tvorbu titulků k filmu. V teoretické části se soustřeďuji na popsání samotného procesu překládání audiovizuálního díla. V této části také stručně uvádím dějiny audiovizuálního překladu. Kromě toho také zmíním problémy, které můžou nastat během překladu a na co by si měl člověk během tvorby titulků dát pozor. Stručně také zmíním problém ekvivalence. V praktické části se budu věnovat samotnému překladu titulků k dokumentárnímu filmu Hledání východu. Okomentuji problémy, které se vyskytly během překladu filmu. Na konci se nachází tabulka s českou titulkovou stopou, polským překladem titulků a také stručný komentář u některých problémů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is called Commented translation of subtitles for the documentary film “Searching for the exit” and its main goal is to describe the process of making subtitles for the film. In the theoretical part I am solely focussing on describing the process of translating an audio-visual work. In this part I also briefly present the history of translation of audio-visual works. Moreover, I mention problems, that can arise while translating and what should a translator watch out for during the creation of subtitles. The problem of equivalence is also briefly mentioned. In the practical part I am specifically focussing on the translation of the documentary film “Searching for the exit”. I am commenting on the problems which arose during the translation. There is a table with the Czech subtitle track and its Polish translation at the end, as well as a brief commentary of some problems.
