Tattoo as an Identity in Postmodern Society: Latent Characteristic of Tattoo

Abstract:

Tetování, jak mnoho literatur potvrzuje, je součástí společnosti už od jejího počátku. Je nedílnou součástí naší society, našeho životního stylu, anebo se stalo naším módním doplňkem. Je především rozšířeno mezi mladými lidmi, ale odsuzováno starší generaci. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je nastínit čtenáři hlavní význam tetování nejen ve společnosti, ale i pravý význam u jedince. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na definice týkající se charakteristiky tetování, vysvětlení a porovnání dřívějšího pohledu na tetování a pohledu dnešního. Také se v předložené práci rozebírá, co je vlastně identita, a jaký je podnět toho, aby se člověk nechal tetovat, a jaké jsou reakce společnosti. Praktická část se zaměřuje na pravý význam tetování. Tento význam se snažím odhalit pomoci rozhovoru. Respondenti jsou rozděleni do dvou skupin. První skupinu tvoří lidé, kteří mají a do budoucna počítají s dalším tetováním. Do druhé skupiny patří lidé, kteří nemají tetování a teprve ho plánují. Ale objevují se zde i takoví, kteří plánovali tetování, ale do budoucna s ním nepočítají.

Abstract:

Tattoos have already been a part of the society when the society emerged. It is a part of our culture, our lifestyle and It became our fashion accessory. It is especially common among young people but It´s disapproved by the older generation. The main purpose of my bachelor thesis is to show the reader the general importance of tattoos not only in society but also its significance for an individual. The theoretical part is focused on tattoo characteristics, its description and a comparison of how tattoos were perceived in the past and how they are perceived now. This thesis later explains the meaning of identity, what is the reasoning behind getting a tattoo and how the society reacts to it. The practical part of this thesis focuses on the actual meaning behind tattoos, that I try discover through interviews. The respondents are separated into two groups. The first group consists of respondents with tattoo(s) and also have future tattoo plans, the second group doesn't currently have a tattoo, but they plan to get one later. In this group are also occasionally individuals that planned to have a tattoo but later changed their mind.
