This thesis introduces the significant African American SF writer, Octavia E. Butler, and her work. It places her work in to a broader context of SF literature, black and feminist studies. Tato diplomová práce seznamuje s významnou americkou černošskou sci-fi autorkou Octavií E. Butlerovou a její románovou tvorbou. Práce zasazuje její dílo do širšího kontextu scifi literatury, černošských a feministických studií.
