German Literature on the Subject of the Transfer of Germans from Czechoslovakia with Special Focus on the Narrative „Der Galgen im Weinberg“ by Josef Mühlberger

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is a German prose, the central topic is still a controversial historical event - the transfer of the Sudeten Germans from Czechoslovakia. The thesis has two main ambitions. The first one is the analysis of the German literary output, focusing on the years of publication, literary genre, author, publisher and any translation into Czech language. This analysis is made on the basis of an extensive and representative bibliography of Axel Dornemann Flucht und Vertreibung aus den ehemaligen deutschen Ostgebieten in Prosaliteratur und Erlebnisbericht seit 1945: eine annotierte Bibliographie and is accompanied by graphs and tables. The second goal is a detailed interpretation of the story of Josef Mühlberger Der Galgen im Weinberg of 1951, which puts the greatest emphasis on a description of a national socialism, the problem of victims, culprits and the adequacy of punishment, and some biblical and Christian motives. At the conclusion, the above mentioned story is compared with some other Mühlberger´s pieces (Erzählungen der Vertreibung and novel Bogumil).

Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce je německá próza, jejímž ústředním tématem je dodnes kontroverzní historická událost - odsun sudetských Němců z Československa. Práce si klade dva hlavní cíle. Prvním je analýza německé literární produkce s touto tematikou se zaměřením na roky vydání, literární žánr, autora, nakladatele a případný překlad do českého jazyka, která je provedena na základě rozsáhlé a reprezentativní bibliografie Axela Dornemanna Flucht und Vertreibung aus den ehemaligen deutschen Ostgebieten in Prosaliteratur und Erlebnisbericht seit 1945: eine annotierte Bibliographie a je doplněna grafy a tabulkami. Druhým cílem je podrobná interpretace povídky Josefa Mühlbergera Der Galgen im Weinberg z roku 1951, u které se klade největší důraz na líčení nacionálního socialismu, otázku obětí, viníků a přiměřenosti trestu a některým biblickým a křesťanským motivům. Na závěr je výše uvedená povídka srovnána s některými dalšími Mühlbergerovými díly (povídkami Erzählungen der Vertreibung a románem Bogumil).
