Analysis of the banking system of Germany and Switzerland

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje analýze bankovních systémů na příkladu německé a švýcarské bankovní soustavy. V úvodní části jsou popsané dějiny bankovnictví jak v Německu tak i ve Švýcarsku s důrazem na současnou atmosféru v mezinárodním finančním prostředí. Další část charakterizují oblasti institucionálního uspořádání, centrálního bankovnictví, regulace a dohledu. Teoretické poznatky v příslušných kapitolách jsou doplněné analytickými postupy, které mají za cíl zkoumání základny fungování bankovních systémů, modelování jejich charakteristických rysů, jakož i zdůraznění aktuálních vývojových tendencí. Poslední část se zabývá syntézou poznatků z předcházejících kapitol s cílem ilustrace analogií a rozdílů mezi analyzovanými bankovními systémy. Závěr shrnuje získané znalosti ohledně německého a švýcarského bankovního systému, včetně vyjádření názoru na možné řešení zjištěných nedokonalosti v jejich fungování.

Abstract:

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the german and swiss banking system. The introductory part of the paper describes the history of the banking systems emphasizing the current climate in the international financial area. The following chapters characterize the structural, central banking, regulation and supervision aspect. The theoretical knowledge in the respective chapters are supplemented by analytical research that aims to present an empirical study on the functioning of the banking systems, shaping their characteristics, as well as highlighting the current trends in their developing. The last part synthesizes the information from the previous chapters in order to illustrate the analogies and the differences between the two examined banking systems. The conclusion besides summarizing the gained knowledge includes possible solutions to the identified imperfections of both german and swiss banking system.
