The Authentication of Art Objects Using Raman Spectroscopy\nl{}

Abstract:

Ramanova spektroskopie je metoda vhodná k identifikaci a analytickému zkoumání látek. Tato práce hodnotí možnosti využití této metody při ověřování padělků uměleckých předmětů. Teoretická část je zaměřena na popis fyzikálních principů spojených s Ramanovou spektroskopií a dále jsou v ní uvedeny možnosti aplikace metody včetně postupu při ověřování pravosti mapy Vinlandu. V praktické části je provedena Ramanovská experimentální identifikace připravených vzorků barev a popsán postup při provedení plošného mapování. V závěru práce je zhodnocení výsledků měření a posouzení vhodnosti této metody pro dané aplikace.

Abstract:

Raman spectroscopy is a method suitable to identify various substances and to examine them analytically. This work assesses the possibilities how to use this method, if verifying counterfeits of works of art. Its theoretical part aims at the description of physical principles connected with Raman spectroscopy and moreover, it mentions the possibilities how to apply this method, including the process at verification of authenticity of Vinland map. Its practical part deals with realization of Raman experimental identification of prepared colour samples and it also describes the process, when global mapping was performed. The conclusion of my work includes evaluation of measuring results and assessment, whether this method is suitable for particular applications.
