Assessment of possibilities of work-life balance by employees in concrete firm

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá potřebami zaměstnanců v oblasti harmonizace práce a rodiny a možnostmi, které vybraná firma pro slaďování nabízí, a to z pohledu daných zaměstnanců. Cílem práce je zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku, která zní: : „Jakým způsobem jsou podle zaměstnanců s dětmi naplňovány jejich potřeby v oblasti harmonizace práce a rodiny v konkrétní firmě?“ Nejprve je teoreticky vymezen koncept harmonizace a společenské proměny v obou hlavních sférách – práci i rodině. Důležitou kapitolou je část týkající se potřeb a naplňování potřeb. Teorii uzavírá kapitola o harmonizačních opatřeních, které jsou chápány jako způsoby naplňování potřeb, a o roli státu v celém procesu. Teoretická část se stala základem pro výkum, který probíhal formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, přičemž metodologická část objasňuje další detaily z přípravy a průběhu výzkumu. V empirické části jsou interpretovány a předloženy výsledky výzkumu. Hlavním zjištěním je, že potřeby zaměstnanců jsou uspokojeny kromě formálních i neformálními opatření, které jsou součástí firemní kultury. Nejproblematičtější je potřeba zajištění péče. Jako významný se též ukázal vliv partnerské pomoci a přímého nadřízeného, ale také techniky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the needs of employees within the context of a work-life balance and its possibilites, which are being provided by selected organizations to achieve the balance. The aim is to answer the main research question: How are the work-life balance needs of employees with children being fullfiled in concrete firm in their perspective?. Firstly, the focus is on the theoretical conceptualization of harmonization and social changes in both of the main spheres – family and work. An important chapter is the one aimed on needs and their fullfilment. The theory is closed by a chapter about harmonization arrangements, that are seen as the ways to fullfil the needs; and the role of a state. The theoretical part became the grounds for research. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews and the methodological part explains the research in greater detail. The findings are interpreted in the emphirical part. The main finding is that the needs of the employees are fullifiled not only by formal but also informal arrangements, which are a part of the organizational culture. The most problematic is the need of securing childcare. There is also a significant influence of partner support and immediate superior, as well as technology.
