Possibilities of cultural self-realization for people with hearing impairment

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je představit Neslyšící, jako jazykovou a kulturní menšinu a zmapovat možnosti jejich kulturního vyžití. Práce obsahuje teoretickou i praktickou část a je rozdělena do pěti kapitol. Ty přinášejí informace k tématům: klasifikace sluchových vad, kdo jsou Neslyšící, kultura Neslyšících, divadlo a pantomima, filmy, televizní pořady a umění Neslyšících. Důležitou součástí práce je výzkum, vycházející z dotazníkového šetření. Výzkum zpracovává odpovědi Neslyšících na otázky typu: Jaké kulturní akce navštěvujete? Jste s nimi spokojeni? Je nabídka kulturních akcí dostatečná?.

Abstract:

The goal of my thesis is to introduce Deaf as a verbal and cultural minority and to map all possibilities of their cultural self-realization. The thesis contains theoretical and practical part. It’s divided into five chapters. These chapters inform about themes like classification of hearing defects, who are Deaf, about their culture, about theatre and pantomime, movies, TV shows and arts. The important part of the thesis is research which is done in the form of survey. The research processes answers of Deaf to questions like this: What cultural actions do you attend? Are you satisfied with them? Is the offer of cultural actions satisfactory?.
